Who would play him though? John Leguizamo maybe? Clifton Collins Jr?

I think it's usually better when they go for an unknown actor with an athletic background. For example, Will Smith is a good actor, but I found him playing Ali to be a distraction rather than an enhancement. I fear the same thing when Jamie Fox plays Mike Tyson. And I don't think it will take a Shakespearian level actor to portray Arturo Gatti.

The fellow that stars as MT HBO version was certainly athletic

How he was an American Hero, who got mistreated because of his great heroism, in the face of racism. He donated money to the war effort, and died broke because of a tax burden!

How Sinatra had to use his Vegas connections to get Louis a job as a greeter at hotels so Joe could have a job.

How about a movie about Joe Frazier, his life & career, in a racially fractured America, who lent Ali money..... Then Ali talked crap about him, yet never paid him back. Ending with Bernard Hopkins getting people to put up a stature for Joe. But there was a statue for Rocky, a non existent fighter. Bullcrap
these two films would be crazy.

hopkins would be best played by daniel day lewis in black face and will smith i imagine would make a sick joe louis.

Yes, Michael Jai White was certainly fit enough to play Tyson. The movie was okay, but I felt that White didn't quite showcase Mike's charisma. It's not his fault. Everybody can do a 10 second Tyson impression. Capturing his entire persona is a very big challenge however.

I saw a couple of other action MA movies with Michael Jai White that were awesome for that genre. In one of them he was the former heavyweight boxing champ of the world with a troubled past who is illegally thrown into a Russian prison where an international betting ring has fight cards between convicts. Well, most MA movies have awful plots. It is what they do with them that counts. It was no Hard Times, but it was entertaining.

Just out of curiosity. Why does this outfit always cheat me out of points. Things are back on schedule everytime I mention that I am getting no interest anymore. I don't get it. Where in the devil is my interest. You know I am a greedy man. Points make me feel secure.

I think a movie based on a topic. Then find fighter or fights that fit the topic.

                      Excuses

Fighters who make them after they lose. Use 6 or 10 boxers who lost and made excuses after a loss. Basically this movie will show good or great fighters doing well in their careers, 6 Mini stories, of six boxers, all tied together at the end when they lose and make excuses.

Two off the top of my head

                      Floyd vs Castillo 1
                      Floyd vs Manny

Floyd mentioned shoulder pain. Booed. Floyd lost! But won the rematch.
Post fight Manny invents and talks about shoulder pain.
