I think it's safe to say he will retire with money. Manny should be alright as long as the IRS don't find his secret hideout in Fort General Santos and to be perfectly honest, most boxers today who win multiple world titles will probably retire with money, it's not the same as it was back in the 40's, 50's and 60's.
Think so huh? heard of capitol gains tax? I would be willing to bet that the IRS pays someone on the order of near six figures just to look at a few people like Floyd, guys who make a ****load of earned income. The IRS knows exactly what Floyd takes home, down to the penny.

The ******** will cook Floyd. Every time he loses the IRS will leave him alone...and he cannot deduct ****, but when he wins! Uncle Sam becomes his partner. How much do they take? a lottery winner who wins a million bucks takes home maybe 650K after taxes.

You think Floyd will stop ******** when he retires? And Floyd is only able to promote because of his fighting activities. He was not even a draw before De La Hoya. We will see how much Floyd holds on to.

PS I should also point out: I hope Floyd is succesful. I get no pleasure in seeing people financially destitute.

Yep. And he is very famous for that. The fact that he was not mentioned in the op speaks volumens about the agenda by the TS.

It's not the first time, so I'll drop him some red and ask the admins for a ban next.

To nitpick a little bit, but doesn't his money largely come from the George Foreman Grill?

Oh absolutely. George did make millions from his career, but he made hundreds of millions from that grill. But if he wasn't a successful boxer, he never would have gotten that endorsement.

Mike tyson and holyfield would beg to differ

George made huge money in his comeback, and then with the endorsements and the grill made him hndreds of millions..

Back about 10 years or so, foreman sold his name and likeness to the manufactures, and instead of getting royalties every year, he just sold his name for somewhere around 110 mil.. and that was after a decade or so of making big money off the grills...
Foreman has to be one of the smartest money guys ever,,, He had opportnity to be a star in boxing, and he used that as a springboard to even more main****** success,,,, When you have a product that has made you millions and then sell your name rights for 110 mil,,, you are a shrewd and smart guy..
            Hats off to foreman

I heard that's why Floyd came back after his retirement following the Hatton fight, because he needed the money, because of his lifestyle. There's also a lot of talk about his shopping sprees leading up to fights. I hope he turns out okay as well. IRS does take a lot but saving and investing well is still the key. I heard Paul Williams saved a lot of his money leading to his retirement. Too bad he ended up paralyzed before his last big payday.

Hahaha, that is pretty much spot on.

I guess the question should have been which fighters kept their money.

Dont forget Buster Douglas he is doing very well for himself considering he really only had one real payday.

I guess non stop boxing is getting too full of racist so they are trying to immigrate to the History section.

It won't work though because we have a Bear and someone who gos to battle watching our borders!

Tell that to Iran Barkley. Very smug comment.

That's really not at all true though. Most retire because they have no choice. Not good enough to get big fights anymore, and losing to **** fighters means they don't get paid. Most of all though, they rack up huge debt while still at the top, then have to keep fighting to pay it off or just stem the tide, then finally are forced to retire because it's a young mans game.

Right now, Mosley would keep fighting if he could. He needs the money, despite making millions upon millions in his career. He didn't finish a fight for the first time ever in his last fight and has now retired at 42 even though he's got nothing in comparison to what he once had.

                      Unfortunate, but true.

As Scott said also, Barkley made a boatload of money in his career. Absolutely loaded. However, he was dirt poor by the time his retirement came around when he was fat, old, **** and fighting for peanuts.
