To get an idea of the pace alot of fighters fought at the 15 round limit these fights are great examples,

    Wilfredo Gomez-Lupe Pintor
    Hagler-Antuofermo
    Leonard-Benitez/Hearns
    Ali-Frazier I & III

There are alot more but look at at Spinks-Ali I, here's a fighter with less than ten fights going 15. Amazing considering alot fighters now struggle to go 12. Alot of it is conditioning but alot of it is also drive and the heart to go out there and give it your all for one more round.

A lot of that is from the peds and weight pumping ******* up the muscle-mass. The more muscle bound a person is the more oxygen those muscles consume. At some point endurance suffers.

        Pre-fight warning signals:
        • Both men have less that 50% KO's on their resum?
        • Both men are defensive counterpunchers.
        • Both men claim endurance as their best attribute.
        • One's orthodox, the other's southpaw.*

*Is it me, or do most fights today feature opponents of opposite stances?
Maybe not most, but definitely more these days. I'm with you on the warning signals.

I don't necessarily expect knockouts but I do expect action. Ali-Frazier I and III were action packed and so was Leonard-Duran I. I figure if a fight is a stinker I can always change the channel as it's going to be a stinker no matter how many rounds it's scheduled.....but a 15 round war beats the hell out of a 12 round war any day :cool9:

I'm in lock-step with you for the most part. I don't expect KO's either (pleasantly surprised when it happens), but hope for a good scrap. The sooner one recognizes a stinker, the better; life's too short to waste on futile endeavors. The examples you cite were rivetting from begining to end, but for me, a 12-round war is just as good as a 15-round war, as I value quality over quantity. Hagler/Hearns was a short "war" I enjoyed as much as Ali/Frazier III.

I think we've posted our differences on this topic before...
