Tunney draws the color line on Godfrey

Tex makes a tournament for who fights Gene.

Wills, Dempsey, Uzcudun, Sharkey, and Maloney AFAIK

Paulino refuses to fight Wills because Dempsey refuses to fight more than one fight to prove he's worthy of Tunney.

    Sharkey beats Maloney.

Uzcudun does fight and beat Wills

    Dempsey beats Sharkey

Paulino is dropped from the tournament, Dempsey fights Tunney

Tex does a little reset. Gets Paulino's next fight, a DQ loss to Risko, scrubbed. You'll see the DQ loss on boxrec but you will not find the NYSAC ruling to corroborate because the NYSAC ruled no foul. It's a NC.

Tosses him in with a couple of no hopers in Lester and Keeley and picks up the latino HW title in Mexico.

Now Tex is angling to use Paulino like he did Firpo. Promote him like he's something special and has a chance when in reality the champion is very sure of his superiority over this challenger.

Problem, Paulino would lose the final in this tournament to The Shadow George Godfrey.

Simple enough, just draw the color line and Gene doesn't have to fight. Instead Gene fights the last white man to draw Paulino; Tom Heeney.

Tex does not hide the fact George is being passed over because he's black. They said color line.

Godfrey was the most famous low blow artist of all time. Based on what I have seen on film between him and Tunney, Tunney UD's him. Some of Godfrey's Losses we alleged fixes.

    Gorfrey was a contender though

      - - What, The Hue and Cry over Nothing?

Wills was offered Tunney for the right to fight for Dempsey's title. Wills refused, so Tunney went straight in and the results are history with Tunney the Champ. Tex don't tell Tunney who to fight as champ, but you gum up things purt fair. Dempsey won the tourney to get the call. So Tunney wraps up with a gimmee doubtless knowing your shorts would be in a twist...

          Tunney never stepped wrongly.
After twice defeating Dempsey, Instead of extending his reign beyond Heeney against the likes of Sharkey, Uzcudun, Delaney, Loughran, Godfrey, Maloney, Renault, Wills, Stribling, Risko, Montgomery, Persson, Berlenbach, DeMave, Slattery, Campolo, Hansen, Seifert, De Kuh, Munn, Dorval, Scott, Lomski, et el (A good crop); he smartly retired to enjoy married live with the love of his life, Polly Lauder Tunney, the heiress to the United States Steel fortune through her grandfather George Lauder and her great-uncle Andrew Carnegie, and live as one of the wealthiest people in the world into his 80's.

If anyone faults him for that; I'd suspect envy is the reason.

Interestingly, I gave no source and got no argument here.

This story doesn't actually go against the narrative fed to you about Tunney, so, no one doubts it?

Likewise, it is interesting one can't talk about colorline events without posters ... even laughably Queen ... feeling some level of attack and emotional reaction.

I suspect something similar Willow. Not envy, but something similarly emotionally charged. Now, i know you've drank the slow juice so let me speak plainly at ya; stop projecting.

Pollack's 3rd volume on Dempsey confirms Tunney was willing to fight Wills , and gives multiple sources to support it.

Wills understandably thinking he had already done enough to qualify for his title shot and aging now, refused to meet him.Wills also turned down a fight with Godfrey.

Tunney openly admitted to drawing the color-line, didn't he? He stated very clearly that he wouldn't fight a Black man...other than Wills -- but I doubt that was even true. Also as far as I've seen, he was offered a go with Wills and he declined. Perhaps they have declined each other at times, but I haven't seen anyone except Tunney claim Wills declined. On the other hand, a third party promoter claimed Tunney turned down an offer from Wills.

Plenty of sources also say that Wills did indeed turn down Godfrey, but because no one was offering enough for him to consider it.

Godfrey was avoided lol we know that is true. This set of actions sounds plausible to me.
