Who Was it? Did he ever commit a purposeful foul? Maybe, maybe not. Offhand, I cannot recall even a mention of a foul with respect to him, which does not mean it didn't happen, because it probably did. Was it on purpose? You know who I mean, don't you? Gentleman not only in the ring, but a well spoken man. He strayed from morality the least, of the Heavy champs, in only my guess. What is your guess? I do not have full information. I may be wrong.

He also borrowed a sizable amount of money from a mobster.

Ivich's info is seconded, but associates in business, politics, managers and referees aside, Jim Corbett, Jim Jeffries, Tommy Burns, Jess Willard, Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney, Max Schmeling, Primo Carnera, Joe Louis, Ezzard Charles, Jersey Joe Walcott, Rocky Marciano, Floyd Patterson, Ingemar Johannson, Joe Frazier, Michael Spinks, Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko all fit the bill; but exemplary intellect, decorum, looks, poise, literacy, brawn, character, bravery, patriotism and being comfortable in any strand of society- Tunney is the man.

Tunney was a condescending prick. But that's just my two cents.

Jim Jeffries reneged on wagers he had made with Reno book makers and Tex Rickard had to make a settlement on the dollar so the Johnson fight could be held there. Walcott was mobbed up and imo took a dive against Rocky the 2nd time.Douglas elected to stay down against Holyfield. We all know Evander's history.
Apart from Wlad claiming he was drugged in one defeat he has always acted with exemplary decorum.
Patterson was a gentleman, but he should have addressed Ali by his chosen name. Ive heard nothing untoward about the other names unless, you want to count Louis' serial womanizing.
These are men they have /had the same fallibilities and frailties as the rest of us.
