Pryor- Arguello I

Just finished watching this fight...what a great fight. Arguello caught Pryor with some monster shots and pryor just took them.
First time iv watched the fight, really enjoyed it.

One of the greatest fights I have ever seen, Pryor never stopped coming forward at Arguello. Arguello threw everything including the kitchen sink at Pryor, unbelievable. Shame there's a cloud hanging over that fight because of Panama Lewis and his mixed drink.

It was also voted Fight of the Decade in the 80's.

Some think Lewis mixed ******* with the water, some thought it was scotch. No one really knows but one thing is clear, once Pryor took a drink of whatever was in that bottle, he came out rejuvenated.

And the rematch was like a xerox copy of the first match. I'm not buying the coolaid mix conspiracy.

Pryor's pace wasn't as ferocious in the second fight and he got tired a little easier too.

And you can't deny, Pryor went back to the corner tired but came out fighting like it was the first round.

Knowing the history of Panama Lewis it's very easy to suspect some improper behavior in the Arguello fight. I would think the bottle contained amphetamine (aka speed) which works immidiately. Lewis himself said it was tap-water...

That was a hell of a fight! I agree, it's too bad that Lewis' shady behavior put a cloud over the fight. It was sorted out in the rematch though. The Hawk was a bad bad man!

When he removed the padding on the glove for the Collins fight that was horrible.

I like to be as objective as possible so check this out as well. Lewis addresses a few of these questions in the videos in this thread.
