Otar 'Pitbull' Eranosyan has officially emerged as a prospect to watch.

The unbeaten junior lightweight made a splash in his Showtime-televised debut, thoroughly outfighting Texas’ Alejandro ‘Pork Chop’ Guerrero over eight rounds. Judges Henry Gueary (79-73), Henry Ellick (78-74) and David Sutherland (78-74) all scored in favor of Eranosyan in the opening leg of a ShoBox tripleheader Friday evening at Central Park Community Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Both boxers came out swinging in an action-packed opening round. Eranosyan generally forces an aggressive pace, with no exception made on Friday. Guerrero—a ShoBox regular who suffered a narrow defeat on this platform this past February—was ready for his all-offense opponent, pumping his jab and digging his left hook to the body. Eranosyan was beaten to the punch early before establishing his uppercut later in the round.

Eranosyan heeded the advice of head trainer and former heavyweight contender Timur Ibragimov to be first in every exchange and not allow Guerrero to drag him into a slugfest. The unbeaten lightweight from the Republic of Georgia—fighting outside of his adopted Florida home state for the first time as a pro— grew increasingly accurate with each round, breaking Guerrero down courtesy of a heavy-handed offensive assault, while flashing brilliant infighting skills in slipping most of what Guerrero had to offer.

Eranosyan was dialed in with his overhand right throughout the second half of the fight. Guerrero was completely outgunned by this point, frustration clearly setting in and even his counter left hooks having little effect.

Guerrero was issued a hard warning in round seven after twice drilling his shoulder into Eranosyan’s jaw during a clinch. The sequence forced Eranosyan to turn away in pain, with time called and referee Gary Ritter taking control. Action resumed with Eranosyan pinning Guerrero along the ropes and connecting with right hands upstairs.

Eranosyan had fun in the eighth and final round, sensing that Guerrero was going to make it to the final bell. Constant in and out movement was offered by Eranosyan, jabbing his way inside and connecting with uppercuts and right hands. Guerrero never conceded, still throwing his right hand with conviction though unfortunately without impact.

Guerrero falls to 12-2 (9KOs), suffering his second straight defeat after having won his ShoBox debut last March.

Eranosyan continues to thrive as he rapidly advances from newcomer to blue-chip prospect. The 28-year-old turned pro just last August and is now 10-0 (5KOs). Friday already marked the sixth fight of 2021 for Eranosyan, who was coming off a fourth-round knockout of Juan Carlos Pena (32-3 at the time) just six weeks ago in Kissimmee, Florida.

Headlining the tripleheader, Ja’Rico O’Quinn (14-0-1, 8KOs) and Saul Sanchez (16-1, 9KOs) collide in a bantamweight battle scheduled for ten rounds.
