Just two months after an alleged physical altercation with a bouncer at a bar in Honolulu, B.J. Penn has again reportedly found trouble in his native Hawaii.
TMZ reported Tuesday that Penn was involved in a fight during a visit to a night club in Pahoa. Footage of the alleged incident can be seen below:
In the clip, the subject alleged to be Penn can be seen in back mount on top of a shirtless figure, throwing punches as what appears to be security and staff attempt to pull him off.
Penn, 40, has been having a troubling 2019. This past April, his estranged girlfriend was granted a restraining order against him after accusations of physical, verbal, and ***ual abuse arose. Penn was not arrested nor charged with a crime in relation to these accusations and he and his team vehemently denied the claims.
A former lightweight and welterweight world champion, Penn (16-14-2) competed at UFC 237 in May, losing a unanimous decision to Clay Guida. He has lost seven straight fights and has not recorded a win since November 2010.
UPDATE: On Wednesday afternoon, TMZ released footage of a second physical altercation involving Penn that appeared to be a precursor to the first conflict (initially, the footage was described as happening after the previous clip).
In this clip, the man that TMZ identfied as Penn can be seen goading a shirtless man into striking him. Two punches appear to land on Penn’s face and Penn falls flat on his back before being helped up by associates.
UPDATE 2: MMA Fighting confirmed with a Hawaii Police Department spokesperson that officers were called to the Lava Shack night club in regards to a disturbance and that Penn was involved. Upon their arrival, the crowd had mostly dispersed and witnesses had little information on the nature of the conflict.
No arrests were made.
