    Lessons from UFC 220

    1) Experience, and grit ***** talent and youth.
Cormier and Miocic proved it last night.

    2) Cormier can beat any LHW not named Jon Jones

3)The UFC rushed Ngannou too soon into a title fight. It showed by how raw he looked grappling and on the ground.

Ngannou cardio was not on point.

I think 263 is too much.

Miocic fought because he moved a lot and Ngannou gassed, couldn't follow.

I was surprised by Miocic boxing skills, he ducked and slipped well Ngannou bombs.

Ngannou only had a game plan A.

I think overall Miocic overall had the best game plan and that's what made him so dominant.

You're right experience was the key.

Miocic has a solid record as a HW champ: Ngannou is a nice win + THE REEM, dos santos, Werdum, solid legacy.

Stipe was really impressive. You could tell he was motivated by everybody counting him out but he did the same thing to Hunt.

Cain is really the last guy Stipe hasn't beat. That's the fight he needs next but he already broke the record for UFC Heavyweight title defenses so his legacy is already sealed as one of the greatest UFC heavyweights.

Francis will come back and improve dramatically from this fight I believe. He really needed this. I'd take him in a rematch in a year or 2. He still has so much potential

I couldn't believe what I was watching last night. One minute of fighting followed by 24 minutes of two guys laying on each other trying not to go into cardiac arrest. How do you get to that level as a professional and can't last more than a minute without draining your cardio. That was pathetic.

Dude was his own worst enemy. He was way to tense waiting to drop that bomb. Horrible game plan w/ no visible thought process other then to lay his opponent out. He even said in the post fight interview that he may have underestimated his opponent and taking him a little lightly.

This can happen sometimes when there's a combination of adrenaline/nerves, striking, grappling and a mixture of both. Grappling and striking are very different types of cardio output, MMA is unique in the way it combines both at once so it can gas out even the best athletes.

With Stipe I mean. Ngannou is just a fraud ass hype with obviously no stamina.

I get all that but it's hard to imagine that neither one trained for a 25 minute fight. They were both gassed after one round. Ngannou was done after about 20 seconds. As a sporting event White should be ashamed of the performance from the champion and the #1 contender in the premier division.

This isn't the first time I've seen both fighters gas in the main event in a UFC match but this one was just awful to watch. It's not like they were fighting at altitude.

But there has to be a way to still last the distance. Guys like GSP and Couture could, but why so few? If it's too much muscle, then they need to trim down, run more, do more aerobics, whatever it takes. Maybe they should do more cardio exercise, instead of lifting weights, maybe it's diet as well. Who else were known for their gas tanks, Hughes? Haven't watched one of his fights in a while. Maybe Silva?

I'd say experience beat youth last night more than grit beat talent. I think the older guys showed their superior talent last night so I didn't see the talent, only youth, siding with the challengers.

That could end up being DC's story. And it might be true & end up true when DC retires.

Idk I think Reem was a solid "win & you get the title shot" situation. Idk who else we throw Francis in with too earn a shot, but yea in retrospect some seasoning with more experienced guys who don't just go to sleep when he hits them is gonna be helpful to him earning his way to another title shot from here & wouldn't of hurt his chances vs Stipe last night. There wasn't a more deserving guy around to fight Stipe doe.
