I think it's the location of where it is distilled. Bourbon is still whisky but it is made in Kentucky and Tennessee. Same as Champagne is sparkling white wine but it is called Champagne because of the region it is made.

it's just american whiskey.

only kentucky style whiskey can be called bourbon though.



kinda like how cognac is brandy but from only a special region of france.



it's not the point if you like gin or not. everyone has different taste. it's just a lot of people like gin.

there's a difference in how they make it and how it tastes.

bourbon is kentucky. in the past tennessee manufacturers tried to pass of their whiskey (jack d for example) as bourbon but that stopped.
