His voice in Batman is a deliberate attempt to both: Invoke fear into his enemies and to hide his real voice.

There's no point in creating this corporeal force of good that emerges supernaturally, through the blackness of night to punish wrong-doers, if Batman suddenly went: "Spiffin' fine night for it isn't it, you vagabond? when will you criminal rascals learn the folly of your ways? now hand that purse over and be on one's merry way. TALLY HO!"

Main problem with the Dark Knight is that Batman ain't mysterious nor is he menacing. More of a bad tempered thug with some high tech ****.
