I think you're misunderstanding, they are around becuz they have an appealing sound that caters to the masses and have extensive credability becuz of their understudy experience beneath some of the best rappers in NY history.

lol just because the members of Run D.M.C like a heavy metal band (and they do listen to that stuff) dosn't mean that i have to like it too because their Run D.M.C.
By the way, in that interview Rakim also said that Eminem was more a lyricist than a Rapper.

Interesting observation. I never could stand Eminem though. When rap first began (in house parties) the very first prerequiste to being a rapper was sounding the part. Eminem does not sound the part so everything he does after that is wack. he gets alot of credit from people because commercialism has killed lyrical complexity and his lyrics are more complex than most commercial stuff. And also, as others have already said because his subject matter connects with white youths.

Your just bitter because hes probably sold more than your favourite rapper.

man that has nothing to do with it. true mc's know other true mc's, and rakim is a true mc that giave em, another true mc the credit he deserves and worked his ass off for. eminem is lyrically gifted and the way he can put a rhyme together to ride a beat is flawless. he is a amazing wordsmith. like rakim said, he's nasty. he then asked, how many black rappers rap better than eminem, and the interviewer decide to give his opinion of scarface while bashing eminem at the same time. but, we never saw the interviewer's face, what a *****. anyway, rakim knows true talent and sheds light on it and eminem is a spokesperson for true talent.

Like I said only kids who dont know **** about REAL hiphop, or couldnt even rap a CL Smooth rhyme actually find Feminem to be an ill MC. Let me take you back to 94 when you were still sucking your moms tit, and show you what my idea of real rappers are. My idea of real MCs are probably people you have only read about in ****zines.

The guy is a fony, a fake, a fraud. A high pitched bubble gum, comic book rapper. Pulls media stunts just to prove he is down. Raps about his ****in wife and kid and mom like anybody gives two ****s about his bull**** tale of woe. He did his thing on a couple of tracks and says some witty **** sometimes, woopdy doo, big ****in deal so does 90% of garbage rappers. His flow is corny, his voice is annoying. He is a joke, a CB4 spoof that should NEVER be mentioned in the same breath as all time greats.
