Yeah, captures the spirit of our times in real way, the disillusionment, the loss of hope and the frustration... Regular folk who worked all their lives beleiving it'd lead to something better only to get discarded and screwed over when they're no longer of use. Realise they were just cogs in the machine. Damn, puts me in mind of some of the pension fund scandals we've had over here. Message of hope in there too though, with the redemption of Robert Duvall's character - whose name I can't recall right now..

That sums it up pretty much. Watching it as an adult was better for the reason that you can relate. The guy lost his job, lost his wife..... I lost my job and girlfriend in 2009 and went off the rails.

It's not done in a way that promotes violence I don't think? it plays out like a video game character almost. Detached from reality but with nods to it. You laugh when he takes out gangsters and robbers, laugh when he smashes up a shop because of some petty reason...... because deep-down you know he is in the right.

Ha there ain't so many benefits to getting older, but getting a bit more patience and a bit less anger is one I can live with just fine.

Of semi recent movies I'd have go with Drive...after gosling pulls off the heist,pulls into the parking structure of the clippers game and nightcall by Kavinsky starts playing with aerial shots of LA at night....pretty dope.
