What's up fellas!? I hope all is good with you guys as your walk with CHRIST continues each and every day. I was in church yesterday and the pastor touched on these two verses:
Luke 20:45-47
Then, in the hearing of all the people, He said to His disciples, “Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”
Luke 21:1-4
And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”
For the first verse he talked about what kind of believer we were. Were we a scribe or a widow. Did we hold ourselves in high regard due to being in CHRIST or were we humble in knowing that all have fallen short and need salvation. We need to remember at times to check ourselves and remember how we once were and what we are trying to achieve as we push toward in CHRIST. Although I pray for a lot of other people I try to pray and ask GOD to check me and make sure there aren't areas where I'm letting pride or anything creep in. Self evaluation is tough at times but if we allow GOD to work through us and pray HIS will on our lives while denying ourselves then in the end, and even now, we can be more effective as believers.
The second verse really hit home as he mentioned giving all you have for GOD. I know the married guys can relate to this. Nobody or marriage is perfect and we all go through difficult times, but he mentioned he does a lot of marital counseling and people will say "I'm done, I don't have much else at all to give." He said he always tells them to "give that, however little it may be." When we barely have any left or sometimes it feels like none at all we owe it to the GOD we serve to give HIM the very last because HE gave it all for us on the cross. HE didn't pick and choose what sins HE was gonna cover or say HE had so much to give, HE paid the ultimate price for us.
So I encourage you all to continue to press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of GOD in CHRIST JESUS, and always remember that you have like minded believers here for you when you need strength or someone to lean on. GOD bless you all.
