It's not based on their views. It's based on their lack of experience with life and susceptibility to demand unnecessary oversight as they aren't fully adjusted to societal demands until they've actually got a job and had to pay some bills for once in their lives. Pay your taxes into the system to prove your contribution (obviously there'd be exceptions for disabled folk, etc.) but otherwise, you shouldn't have a say. It's only fair. I think 18 is too young an age to know what you're voting for with any semblance of real understanding of the implications.

Thing is in Canada at least you can enlist in the Army at 18 and potentially go to war and die but not have the right to vote. There is nothing wrong with young people and new ideas it's not scary. You are essentially saying I don't agree with how you think so I am going to deny you the right to express it by disallowing your opportunity to vote. It's up to us to educate the younger generation instead of complaining about them.

California has no more young people than any other state.

18 is too young to be enlisted for combat unless you're in times of emergency in my opinion too. They should still be allowed to join the army but engage in physical and educational training for a number of years first. The further along in society we go the more we realise how useless young people are until they're about 21-23 minimum. At least in the past voting rights used to only go to landowners, the lowering of overall societal expectations has led to this establishment of low voting ages and standards overall. Politicians find it too expedient to be able to dupe young and lazy people for a ton of votes so it's probably too late to try to change it.

A few years back I was at a cemetery and went to a section I had never been to. It was full of young men from the first world war. It was shocking how many there were.

It was a costly war, millions served, millions died. Minds were scarred for life. War is a tragic thing.
