Well left wing political thought i.e. socialism and communism resulted in 100 million people being killed as a result of it after only being practiced for less than 100 years. Would you subscribe to an ideology that averages killing over a million people a year? Just an ideology alone did that.
Think of it this way if it were fascism that ********s advocated for you'd be totally against it right (mind you they were nationalist socialists so they were Leftists too but I'm excluding their numbers for this point)? That killed 20 million people in the same timeframe and it's rightly recognised as a horrible, destructive and downright evil ideology. Why doesnt socialist thought get the same bad rap? It's more than earned it, in fact five times over by my calculations.

I think young people have a lot to add to our political system but that doesn't make me a socialist. I'm against any totalitarian state be it left or right. In a ********ic society there is room for all views. The ones that are based on common sense will eventually win out. The ones that don't will die. I've never seen the US so polarized. It's wrecking your country.

I'm not living in America, I don't remember living there, I was only born there. But the US isn't that polarised and it isn't wrecking anything. You lack perspective on the issue completely.
You sound like you're getting your info from a mainstream news source and I can certify that those guys have no more journalistic integrity left in them. They want people to appear to be at each other's throats. That news sells for them and it has done so. ***** has united more people by calling that bs out and getting people jobs, recovering this economy and growing wages for the poorest members of American society.
He's done a **** up job. You'd be remiss to dismiss the good work he's done based on a perception of ignorance portrayed by the media. ***** is a love/hate character for many, he's against those causing most of the world's problems and the ones causing them have a problem with that.
Plus all socialist policies end up in some form of social rot. They inherently are the ideologies of take, take, take instead of the ideology of quid pro quo (something that everyone can be happy with, the free and wilful exchange of goods and services, i.e. the free market).
Oh and the main issue with socialism is that young people tend to vote for it as they don't know anything but how to take from people at that point. Until they pay their fair share in taxes I don't thinks anyone should be allowed to vote honestly. I believe you need to prove your contribution to society to be able to take part in the running of it.

I live a couple of miles from the US border and have relatives that live in the States. I think they are becoming more apart in the last 20 years rather than finding amicable solutions to problems. Your opinion is yours that's OK.

The general divide is opening up only because the ********s are going further left. The **********s have become more centrist since then. This divide has been growing for a while and ***** is not the cause of it, he's in fact the solution as he's the only counterbalance we have to this leftist lunacy we see from Dems. Listen I'm not saying the ********s are Angels and the **********s are the spawn of Satan. I'm saying that young people should get out, pay attention and vote. Denying people the vote because you don't like some of their views is not what ********ic countries were founded on.
