The tragedy is that the left is exploiting her. They'll get their 15 minutes out of her and then discard her like all the rest of the ANTIFA supporters (yes she supports ANTIFA).

Off topic but I find it very annoying when women use the "peace sign" in photos (your signature). Like what is that supposed to mean? That she just **********d and she wants the person looking at the photo to imagine his or herself taking a whiff of her fingers? Fuckin hell.

It's annoying when men do it also, but I find that women do it exponentially more.

been hearing a lot about this girl lately. i mean she's not wrong (nor is she 100% right) but that overly dramatic tone and the fact that they make her 'the face of the new movement' and portray her as a real life activist who knows the pain despite her being a 16 year old from a wealthy family living in a rich 1st world country won't let me take her seriously.

Simply put, she's the almost perfect messenger for the message.

Not brown, a female, not an old woman or an adult, and older than someone just starting puberty.

You put her out into the white Western world, and you've got a symbol for the white masses, throughout Europe and Eastern Europe, Canada and the US, and anywhere else that her English-language message can reach (you may have some brown folks join her too) to rally behind and form a counterweight when world leaders are trying to decide how aggressively they're thinking about, or not thinking about limiting emissions.

No different than the fight to end the draft from what I've read; even though you had a lot of poor white people, black people and Latino people doing the bulk of the fighting/dying in Vietnam, the moment you had upper middle class white folks set to possibly go and fight, you now had a face that "concerned parents" could relate to, which changed the whole calculus and eventually suspended the draft (you still have to register with Selective Services).

Doubt the juice is worth the squeeze though

One thing Szef, If she were poor and living in a 3rd world country you'd never hear what she had to say. I don't think you should hold how the media is using her against her.
Wow, it's amazing to see how many posters on here (with Rep) are afraid of women, in this case a girl, except for you, how can they knock a young person for putting them selves forward in an matter of importance to her, relevant or irralevant as climate may be, and of importance to youth.

At first I was irritated by her and some of the statements she had made 'Mainly her statements, regarding her dreams being taken away because she is now traveling the world being a activist and not attending school'. I actually think this is a great opportunity/experience that many other people around the world would be grateful to participate in.

But the actual course she is championing? I would say it is a good course 'One that is very important'.

I will end my post by saying this 'Protest have never really achieved anything, only action does'. I actually think society is doing quite well regarding climate change, we do see things changing slowly in Europe and america etc Going forward in future, things will also intensify.
