New thread in lounge for conspiracy theory

Hey fellow posters

I just started a thread in the other lounge. I might ask the mods if I can make it a lounge thread that is stickied.

I will describe the thread and if there is interest, or not let me know. I do not like to waste time. The thread is up, I started it in the general section.

The thread is designed for two purposes: as an information dump...So when a member is referring to materials involving a conspiracy, instead of reposting it every time the issue comes up, someone can be directed to the lounge thread.

Many members, I am thinking of Siablo for example, ask for proof and this way, they can be directed to a general site.

The second purpose is to discuss proof, using real examples. To show how one looks at conspiracy issues and follows them down the proverbial "Rabbit Hole." There are expert ways of using data and there are specific types of data used when we look at these theories.

I started the thread with this second purpose in mind, it is my attempt to sort of get those of us who look at these issues in a forum where others can see what we are looking at and how we are looking at these issues.

If there is no interest I will just let the thread die in the new section, if there is interest, use the thread as an information dump at the very least. So if, for example you have an article that you think hightly of, post it.

If there is an interest i will try to make it a "lounge."

In general, conspiracy theories seem to start with facts then there is point where it takes a leap of faith to believe something. Then the proverbial "that's what they want you to think" stuff gets thrown in for good measure.

Not sure if it will work seeing as cbs have taken over the site and there logo is representative of the all seeing eye or "eye of providence" which is part of one of many conspiracys. Im sure there are paid shills/disinformation agents on this site perhaps.

... and, instead, "a sheep capable of critical thinking" should also look for the "All Seeing Eye" in churches as well... that "capable sheep" would be surprised to find countless depictions of "God's Eye"...

For the better of society by preventing kids from getting dumber, I suggest mods delete every single conspiracy thread straight of the bat.

So the idea is to address some of these issues. It should never be a crime to apply logical criteria to any idea...The best way to destroy an ignorant idea is to bring it to the light.

One can already see how polarizing this issue is from just these responses. When we apply critical thinking it should not matter to what we apply it to... When we start putting certain ideas as good or bad without such a filter then we have problems.

In his day most of us on this site would have believed that Galileo was a lunatic and he actually was a crazy individual. His theory was correct SOMETIMES... and the church had invested a great deal in transmuting Aristotle and Plato. Even the great Noam Chomsky could not explain much of anything compared with Skinner.

So I will let give this thread bit more time, and hope at least a few more people weigh in...I know I have at least a few individuals that do not like me, and they have an opportunity here!

Again, the purpose would be to drop information and discuss how one looks at some of the ideas put fourth that are extra ordinary ideas. Instead of constantly imploring people to look at a particular link.
