I’ve reading, and listening to NPR, about this so-called “abolish ICE” movement for the last week and with the immigration protests this weekend it seems to be gaining traction. The immigration debate seems like one of the most important and polarizing issues of our time. I’d like to know what my fellow posters views and opinions on the immigration debate are and what do you think of “abolishing ICE.”

I think social justice became a joke of exaggerated proportions. Those clowns who want to let illegals in the country like a free for all should start by removing the doors and windows of their houses and appartments and leave it like that for a few months.

I can understand how the family separations would have ruffled a few feathers. Some people feel the ICE has become an unchecked power of sorts.
Anyway, I'm not sure yet I follow everyone's intentions but they don't seem to be on the same page. Some are saying the ICE should be replaced (which is what happened to the INS) and are worried about how extreme the 'abolish ICE' tagline reads. Others are not.

***** said this stance is going to get them clobbered in the midterms.
I sure hope he's right on that.
Imo, this stance is good for winning D primaries, but I cant see it winning too many general elections outside of heavily skewed D districts.

I say I am ecstatic that some Dems would run on abolishing ICE and having open borders. Although no Dem politician has run on abolishing the 2nd ********* in public yet, I hope they also push for that. Along with the socialist movement gaining some considerable steam in some heavily Dem districts. This is all great news for a non-*******.

A majority of the protestors couldn't care less about immigrants, illegal or otherwise. This is simply another anti-***** rally. I never saw one ICE rally during the ***** admin even though he was deporting illegals by the tens of thousands. Families were separated during ***** admin too...no protests. The snowflakes need to find something more productive to do with their time.

It's laughable- a desperate last-straw attempt by the ********s to keep illegal voters coming into the country-nothing more and nothing less.

ICE is no different than defense contracts. The U.S. doesn't need to spend a thousand trillion dollars on the military, but it happens so certain people can make a bunch of money.
