A Bronx Tale! That is a very good one. American Gangster?
You need to watch that tonight

        It deserves a mention.

But really it's just a remake of a much better Hong Kong film, Infernal Affairs.

          Scarface.
          GoodFellas.
          Cartlito's Way.
          The Departed.

Other gangster movies i like are....

          The Business.
          Gangster Number 1

I find the God Father movies to be the most boring and uninspiring gangster movies, i have ever attempted to watch! (Boring soundtracks, and the movies seem to move incredibly slow!).....i genuinely believe that some people just pretend to like the movies because everybody else does!

Having seen all of these...I felt Godfather was overrated as a "gangster" movie. Great movie, but a "gangster" movie?

But then I come from a world where there's a difference between a "mobster" and a "gangster" so...

Scarface was a good "gangster" movie, but certainly not the best. Great movie, not the best "gangster" movie.

I thought Carlito's Way - the first one anyway - was the best example.

I know, I remember reading about that.

Lots of movies are remakes of other movies though.

                My personal favorite is Scarface.

It is hard to top Pacino's acting skills as Tony Montana.

Yeah. Recently rewatched, honestly, it makes it this far because of Pacino's amazing acting.
The actual plot & movie are super cheesy besides him.

Out of that list for me would be Goodfellas. I've watched that more than any other one on the list, but they are all good movies. I think my all time favorite mob film now though is Millers Crossing.

if you are talking about mafia, italian gangsters? the godfather and goodfellas are in a league of their own.
