Anyone have information on why black people are known as African-American in US and black elsewhere? 2nd generation Africans over here would be considered black British. Though that's not a term you'll hear, they're just called British. Asians are the only ones in the UK who recognise themselves as being both Asian and British or at least want to be referred to as such.

If this is an African American history thread, lets get some meat to it.
