[HOLY S**T!] Have you ever suffered VERY bad sunburn?

Long story short, I did perhaps the ******est thing you could possibly do in the summer, and spent my first beach day lying under pretty much direct sunlight with no cloud cover at all within the peak hours of 9 or 10am-2pm...and that wasn't the worst part - I didn't use any suncream at all.

Needless to say, the results are not good at all. I have fair skin as it is and it's also annoyingly oversensitive, and essentially I now have 2nd degree burns over my whole body minus my back and the insides of my arms...the first day I think i slept through a 40C body temperature, and yesterday and today i've just been constantly burning...especially my legs, chest, shoulders...started using a strong steroid ointment yesterday but that hasn't really done **** so far...

Dehydration is obviously an issue also, and for some reason my whole torso has swollen which is making me look more like Chris Arreola than the shape i was in before this disaster happened!!

Basically, this isn't showing signs of improvement...and promisingly right now I can't even feel any heartbeat whatsoever through my chest...

Any of you guys ever got severe sunburns, and how did you deal with them? What was the recovery time? What medication did you take?

Hopefully I get some helpful responses before I'm a goner

Ok, but why in the hell did you do that?

It sounds severe, you should maybe see a doctor. Hope you will get a speedy recovery.

        Alo vera!!

You can get it in a spray so you don't have to touch the areas!

If your talking full on blisters then you will be out of action for a few weeks!

Yeah man it was ******...my thinking was that I wanted to get to the beach early and just thought i'd be OK and i sort of fell asleep a few times as well...and apparently it only takes 15mins to get burnt...try 4+ hours haha...anyway, thanks bro, hopefully this won't last long...

I heard aloe vera is a bit overrated and honey is actually more proven to treat, rather than just provide some relief. But i will go to the pharmacy soon to check out something for pain relief and anti inflammation.

Nah, I wouldn't say my skin is blistered, but it is just really red and swollen with some white bumps in some areas but i don't think they are blisters.

Worst thing about this is that i'm on this trip alone so I gotta do all the work myself in terms of going out for medicine, water, food etc...putting on clothes is a chore in itself at the moment lol...

Benadryl lotion and pills help, but if you take the benadryl might make ya sleepy but I know its supposed to help a little. Plus it'll keep ya from scratching it.

Bro, it's not even an itchy feeling right now...just feels as if I was attacked with a flamethrower this isn't like the sunburns I have had in the past, and there isn't any signs of peeling as yet. It is just all red, and the skin feels tight around my shoulders so it is difficult to lift my arms, but swollen in the chest and stomach area. My legs freaking kill though lol, because I have really hairy legs and the friction that happens if i touch them is like someone running a hot match up my leg, or a knife.

Finally i've given in and got 3 medications at the pharmacy - something called Panthenol (dunno if thats in the States), some paracetamol for pain relief and also anti-inflammatory pills.

Hopefully all this will help a bit.

Aloe Vera plant works great. I always keep it around for this reason. Cut a leaf off, split it down the middle and then apply it to your skin. Should be gone the next day.
