    ISIS bulldozes ancient Mesopotamian civilization

ISIS demolishes ancient Assyrian city in Northern Iraq. The city dates back to around 900 BC - 600 BC. At what length does ISIS have to go to garner a global initiative to wipe them out? Were looking at a group that makes ****'s look civil.

    Remove the space before 'humanitarian'

The irony of your comment is that the US did the same thing on a larger scale during the Iraq invasion. So surely, the U.S. are ****'s right?

A little strange how this is outraging people when they set a man on fire and have been chopping off heads for a while now.

Whats next? Make fun of Nimoys death?

Dito. Nimrud is potentially older than 900BC, its find was monumental. I fail to comprehend the deliberate destruction of history, whether it be Nmrud, the artifacts in Mosul, the ancient Mosques of Islamic prophets, or the two giant Buddha statues by the Taliban a few years back.

These acts anger me as much or more than any other atrocity they have committed. They are pure senselessness, a blatant act of ignorance and people choosing that ignorance.

I fail to comprehend such willful ******ity.

They also threw a gay guy off a building recently as well. All their actions are disgusting.

Ironically, Nimoy's beloved character, Mr. Spock would probably explain it as the needs of the few vs the needs of the many.

The death of the people you mention/was horrific; but death/is nothing new, nor unexpected in this world, nor sadly are the atrocious ways they died. Life ultimately ends in death, no matter what manner. We, as humans expect this.

Nimrud, on the other hand, and he artifacts in Mosul, are beyond that death as they are landmarks of what people left behind, they are legacy. Humans, in he end, with our short lives, have nothing else. Because we are not immortal, we attempt to leave behind pieces of ourselves which will long outlive our names and benefit people, our fellow humans, whom we will never meet. That is all we have. That was Nimrud, one of the oldest civilizations known to man.

That is why the outrage. Humans come and go, history is what they leave behind.....it is, ultimately, all we are, or were on this plain of existence.

We are what we leave behind.
