They have great food, don't get me wrong, but the food can be different depending on what city you are in. For example, in Rome you really need to get out of Central (ancient) Rome in order to find some great food. Maybe you're just stuck in tourist traps. Eating in or around Piazza Navona isnt the way to go.

But more importantly, maybe you should try France and better yet Spain for some of the very best food you'll find anywhere in the world. You'll have to try really hard to get a bad meal in Barcelona. In my opinion, best food city in the world. Beats Paris, NYC, San Francisco / Napa hands down.
Ive visited other countries in Europe but I ulsually stay there for a couple days to a week. But when I visit italy I'm there for a couple weeks. I got friends there who live in Rome, Florence , and south italy. So we get to eat home cooked meals at their homes and we go to restraunts they recommend. The food isn't bad but it's not great either. I can find stuff like that here in the States if not better.
I wasn't too impressed in Barcelona either the paellas tasted like they where microwaved but I was only there for a couple days so I wasn't able to visit too
      many restraunts.

You dont order Paella in Barcelona. If you ever go back, try this restaurant: Paco Meralgo

Or just go to La Boqueria and eat at any of the stalls there.

There are so many globe trotters here i can't believe it. Between the ones who ate everything a continent had to offer and the ones that have a table in Fouquet's, you'll forgive me if i get su****ious.

California, I get to travel to Europe for work once a year. I've visited Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland , UK, and Italy. I've mostlly spent most of my time in Italy the times that I have been there. So I'll focus on that region...

In California we have a lot of Mexican food restraunts. Some are great some are not. If you cross the border in to Mexico the food is amazing, better than what you find in California.

I love italian food so I figured I would have the same experience the first time I visited Italy. I figured if Italian food in America is good, in Italy it's going to be amazing!

I was wrong. The food in Italy isn't bad but it's not something that you say to yourself " I can't wait to come back to visit this restraunt"
The pastas are bland, bread has no salt and feels like it was left out to dry for a month. ( if you're a boxer eat some of that hard ass bread.... You'll have an iron chin in no time.)
Pizzas are plain and thin. And almost everything is the same. Pasta with tomatoe sauce, pasta with olive oil, PASTA with :__________( insert what ever ingredient here)

Before some one posts that I probably didn't go to the right places. I visited Rome, Firence, Venice, Napoles, and south italy. I visited restraunts that were recomended to me, some I found online, some I just walked in, and I've ate at a friends house many times that is from italy. So I had home made Italian food.

I told my friend from Italy how come they don't add some ****e or something extra to give the food more flavor so it's not too bland. He said because that's the way their ancestors cooked it and that it's the original recipe and that good food doesn't require many ingredients.

I understand what he was saying; however, I'm pretty sure if his ancestor was able to travel threw time to today. He would see him cooking and see all the different ****es and possibilities that are available today, he would slap his great great grand kid cause he's still eating like Julius Caesar was eating in his days.

The food isn't terrible. The chesese and salamees are good, so is the wine. Italian food is great. In my opinion Italian food was brought to America and perfected here. I just prefer American Italian instead of the authentic stuff.

Im wondering what others here that have been to europe think of the food?

              (Im
Typing with my phone so please excuse any mistakes)

You have to find the right restaurants. Italians take a much different approach to meals than AMericans.

If you are treated to a true dinner there - you'll be served several small courses. It will be like a mini event.

But often on the go there, Italians just eat something simple, small, and quick.

I do agree that the whole "Italian experence" can be very overhyped, though.

There are more ugly women there than in the states, IMO. The guys there can be very weird, and will live with their mothers and be treated like a prince until they marry. Their style is wack and they can just be goofy at times.

And yes - a lot of the food is nothing like you'd expect after dining on fne Italian restaurants in USA.

But lke I said - find the right place, and the right time, and you'll get to experience some of the best pastas, olive oils, wines, and breads in the world.

Whatever, i'm sure you crave it. And the mansion on the beach too and the big boobed blondie to go along. Why is a life VIP like you wasting his precious time on a boxing forum though? That Ferrari needs a good polish.

Who's talking about all that? But pretty sure I can afford to eat at fouquets if i can afford $1500 exotic animal boots. Not everyone's as broke as you.
