Revis is good, but not that good as someone said playing in NY gets you ton of media exposure and players of any sport tend to be overrated.

Mark Sanchez now is being compared to Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Joe Montana. If you're decent and play in NY you get a lot of hype and tend to be overrated.

Also, Slot Receivers(#3) are usually covered by a linebacker in a regular 3-4 or 4-3 defense which is a mis-match that's why they bring in the Nickel Cornerback to match speed.

After seeing Antonio Cromartie, a "shutdown corner" in San Diego, struggle with the #2 receiver last year while playing outstanding against the #1. Makes me think that it is harder to cover #2-5.

Rex Ryan actually gave Cromartie the #1 reciever and made Revis play their 2nd or 3rd receivers. Revis can cover and shutdown Receiver's #1-5 and play "Man-Zone". Deion usually covers the vertical receiver which he can outrun stride by stride. He'll have trouble with the Slot Guys because of his TACKLING problems.
lol find me a receiver through Deion's career he couldn't cover. He's lined up against all the modern greats. Rice, Tim Brown, Rison, Ellard, Andre Reed, Irvin, Carter, etc. And Irvin and Cris love lighting up the middle.

Vertical receiver? WRs run all routes buddy, including slants and crosses. If Deion only covered bomb threats, he wouldn't have those career INT numbers.

And lets clear up the tackling issue specifically. Deion really didn't like tackling running backs. He'd try and trip them. If Sanders was REALLY that much of a sissy tackler there'd be highlight reels of him being abused over the middle throughout his career. Umm... where they at? He played 15/16 years breh.

and the 4-3 is standard issue D. Safeties cover the slot in 3-wide sets. If you put a linebacker on a slot when you have FS available, that's ******. Same thing in the 3-4. You're only switching a lineman for an extra LB, FS can still cover the slot in a 3-wide.

Now if you have a dangerous slot that's too much for the man safety, then you nickel and dime his ass in a cover-2.

I can't believe this is even a conversation. Deion is such a boss, the first time he touched the ball in the NFL it went for 6.

Apparently NOT. The safety is there to help that's why he's called the SAFETY, the primary responsibility of the third receiver in a 3-4 or 4-3 defense is the linebacker in a normal play because that's how the pieces naturally line-up. Watch this video, go play Madden, or actually play a game but get your basic knowledge up to date.

You don't know what the hell you're talking about. The 3rd receiver's responsibility on covering that lineman/or linebacker would be during 'run blocking/picking', otherwise he's running his route, he doesn't give a flyin fk if it's a safety or a LB in front of him, his job is to get open like the other receivers. I've played scholastically and been watching football for over 20 years buddy, I don't need an edu.

And you know better, because it seems like you've been watching for awhile. The defense does what it's assigned to do. That exploit you saw in that first clip with the colts was Manning splitting a cover-2 defense, where the linebacker is playing man and the safety playing zone. That was a scheme. The LB is usually neutral in coverage and takes anyone who has a route in his assignment. If the RB goes through there he'd take the RB.

He's not particular to anyone in that kind of coverage like a corner covering the wide receiver is.

Damn, that's my dyslexia talking, switch up wide receivers and linebackers and it makes more sense. Anyways I ain't gonna hate on Deion right now apparently he tackled every bill his mama gave him. So cong**** to him.

IMO as of right now the best all around corner, Rod Woodson > Darrelle Revis

For all those who think D was a sissy. If Skip telling you manhandling Michael Irvin (the TO before there was TO) wasn't enough.

                    lol
