The Ultimate Sacrifice - Japan Disaster

the damage to at least 1 of the nuclear reactors has reached a point where the next step may involve nuclear plant workers taking heroic acts.

it may have reached the point where if there is any chance to contain this, the nuclear plant workers may be called in to sacrifice their lives.

i have no doubt in my mind that these workers will oblige if asked to do so.

if this happened here in the states, i'm not sure i'd be as confident our workers will do the same thing.

i'm not hating, that's just how i feel about it.

    flame away.

People sacrifice their lives. Some would volunteer no doubt. Look at what's happened to the rescue workers from 9/11...

i'm not downplaying their heroics but i don't think it was a given that they were sacrificing their lives.

it was risky but rescue missions have a much higher success rate than failure in terms of the actual rescuers surviving it.

this mission in japan is a death sentence.

                yeah.

i can't imagine what immediately goes into one's head once you are asked to do such a thing.

                pride? fear? excitement?

i'd be lying if i said i would have said yes.

Only difference is that the 9/11 workers were assured that there is no chemical danger in the rubble, which turned out to not be true

But these workers are pretty much called in and told that theres a big chance that they might die, from radiation poisening, a slow and horrible death
