I'm glad he decided to call it quits rather than have 2 or 3 more seasons of being a shell of his former self. The Phillies should have won a world series with him... 2010 or 2011. Especially 2011.

He was fun to watch and it was insane how dominant he was throughout his career

Farewell Doc ..nice to see him retire as a Blue Jay even if his most memorable performances were with Philly. That first year with the Phillies he was just unhittable as dominant as a pitcher can be I still can't believe Philly was able to win a title with Doc, Lee, and Hamels. He should be in the hof without a problem as far as him not having eye catching numbers in the wins department shouldn't hamper his chances. I think the days of guys winning 300 career games is well behind us.

His name will always piss me off!

        Halladay? TF is that?

Strange that he burned out so early. One would have thought that he'd be one of the guys to have a long career, like a Maddux or Nolan Ryan.

It's kind of appropriate. He gets the cash but loses his identity.

I thought so too. But apparently his shoulder injury was no joke.

I forgot I had this thread. Instead of spamming the lounge with baseball news, i'll just use this.

Glad to see him retire a Jay... his heart was always with the city of Toronto.

When he left he was a class act buying front page spaces in all of the cities news papers with a letter thanking the city and that he'd always consider Toronto his home, etc.

Cano should have followed suit. Then again, I guess the break up was a little bitter, because the Yankees had the money to pay Cano, while the Blue Jays couldn't have resigned Halladay without it costing an arm for them.

Yeah every three years we need to resurrect it.

Who is Nelson Cruz going to sigh with? Anyone who signs him (except the Rangers) has to give the Rangers a first round pick in next years draft. That new item seriously degrades the value of some players...why would you take player A and lose a draft pick when player B is just as, or nearly as good?
