Guys....the two aren't in the same league...Resume wise or talent wise.

Denzel's movies appeal to the mainstream more...but he's the same guy in just about every movie with a few exceptions.

Day-Lewis doesn't do many movies, but when he does do one he give a better performance than Denzel ever has.

        My Left Foot
        Last of the Mohicans
        Age of Innocence
In The Name of the Father
        Gangs of New York
        There Will Be Blood

Denzel hasn't done a movie as good as any of those, and CERTAINLY hasn't had a performance that can even be mentioned in the same breath as any of those.

While I agree with most of what you're saying, Denzel was amazing in X, pretty damn good in Glory and even though I hated the last 20 minutes or so of Training Day, I think he was entertaining in that as well... although ever since then, he seems to be phoning it in.

Agreed that Denzel has really shined a few times. He's got some chops.

He's just not on the same level as Lewis.

Quoted for truth. Daniel Day Lewis is an incredible actor, whereas Denzel Washington is just an extremely good one.

It's like comparing a more skilled all-time great fighter to a lesser-skilled all time great fighter who we all agree is way ahead in the rankings, due to his accomplishments.

Example: Roberto Duran to Roy Jones.
this is the most accurate and intelligent response
