USA, Belarus and North Korea vote against UN resolution condemning Russia for Ukraine conflict

'The general assembly has backed a resolution drafted by Ukraine and the European Union condemning Russia on the third anniversary of its full-scale invasion, spurning a rival US resolution reflecting split with Europe and growing union with .

The United States, , Belarus and North Korea all voted against the EU-Ukrainian resolution underlining an extraordinary shift in US policy since the US president’s election that has largely absolved the Russian president of responsibility for the invasion.

In the vote, 93 countries supported the joint European resolution that named Russia an aggressor state and called on it to remove its troops from , while 18 countries including the US and Russia voted against.'

Just a first step in US isolationism I expect.

Where have we seen this before I wonder?

That said even Keir has pushed through cutting foreign aid to increase defence spending - whilst senior army officials expect Britain to be engaged in a war within 5 years with a current standing army that doesn't exceed 70,000. They want/need conscription.

I don't think Keir is going to get on too well in Washington. The Orange one is gonna try and embarrass him.

I don't want to hear the words 'special relationship' anymore. Vomit inducing stuff.

Mad time to be alive this, pretty sure most of us will live through a couple more pandemics and a world war.

yeah, europe will have to defend itself, which isnt unreasonable... i've always doubted NATO anyway and what would happen if a member state got attacked, just cause a piece of paper says america will defend them, doesnt mean its true when an invasion actually happens

I was been sarcastic of course, even though they are vastly underfunded nobody f***s with the SAS or SBS (for example) unless they have got a death wish.

It's true. The reliance on the US for anything has always been silly because they were always liable to pull the rug up as they are fully entitled to do.

Does seem like everyone is on a war footing now. The issue is the global temperature is very at odds with a lot of countries. As a nominally centre (Labour) left party committing to further defence spending whilst simultaneously having unsecured borders is a massive contradiction in terms.

The western world in general will turn its focus inward with the inevitable shift away from centrist political parties.

Respect you point of view, Sparked.

"Isolationism" gets turned into something else these days.

Probably gets flipped into "White Nationalist", and what do you know, you're a Nazi.

Heterosexual caucasian male, that happens to have a affinity for the Nation he was born and raised in?

                  Oh well.
