Olympic spots are earned, not given. When the team was selected Clark hadn’t earned a spot. She can’t improve the team from bench.

Clark holds the record for the most points ever scored in NCAA Division I, she could easily have been given a spot on the team based on that alone. It would not have been a handout or white privilege in any way.

Just like how Christian Laettner got a spot on the original Dream Team as a rookie.
