I don't know how strict/relaxed your government will be. But I think most countries right now are holding back a bit, waiting on the data. Right now it looks like 1. It's more infectious so more people than ever could get infected 2. the vaccines aren't are effective on it as previous strains 3. it doesn't make people as sick as previous strains 4. how many people get the booster and what impact that has

I think a lot of governments are waiting to see just how many people get sick before deciding on restrictions. I don't think any of them want a lockdown or are secretly plotting to bring in a police state. If anything our leaders are worryingly without a plan.

Agreed, but the announcement from the CDC tells a different story right? If they're going to put those numbers out they must know something right?

Also just watched them say the vaxx is 80% effective. This just all comes down to a chit show. I don't understand how the CDC can make that prediction and then not lock down.

they are making this **** up as they go along, contradictions and more contradictions.they say new strain evades vaccines, but then that the booster will stop it and you cant be considered fully vaccinated without booster. then our chief medical officer says booster isnt enough and we need the UNIVERSAL VACCINE and restrictions will last another 18 months minimum. i dread to think how many doses we will need of the super duper universal vaccine. can i just remind people the recovery rate of this damn virus, 99.8 percent, tis weak as piss, all these restrictions, muzzles, vaccine passes, prison camps, boosters, economic ruin, raised taxes for this. and youve got people taking the piss out of me on here saying im the crazy one for wondering wtf is going in
man down man down likes this.

It's funny Fauci just said on TV that the vaccine will protect you from omicron. I looked at the wife and said, he better watch what he says as he'll be in another video showing how wrong he's been. She said, it doesn't matter what he gets right they never say anything about it. Like most of the time, she's right.

Well looks like Columbia University disagrees with the CDC and Fauci. So why are they pushing shots for this?

Outskirts of west London, not far from Heathrow. Lockdown at least reduced the flights+noise so I could watch TV without having to close the window. I don't get into central much but would like to visit Tate and the museums again as it's been 5+ years since I've been to any of them. I went to Royal Observatory about 6 months ago, I liked it but was a bit naive/****** before going in thinking I might get a go on a big telescope.

Something you keep not understanding is that just because people disagree with your conspiracy theories, that doesn't mean they support everything the government say/do.

You guys keep posting over and over again about "you were lied to on the miracle vaccine, they said corona would go away and no more jabs would be needed". Well let's look at what was actually said back in January

Mr Han**** also warned that it is 'highly likely' people will be vaccinated against Covid annually, as with the flu.

He told Sky News: 'I think it's highly likely that there will be a dual-vaccination programme for the foreseeable, this is the medium-term, of flu and Covid.'

Meanwhile, Professor Sridhar, chair of public health at Edinburgh University, today described the UK's three approved inoculations - Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna - as a 'bright spot'.

But she also warned Times Radio it was not yet clear how long immunity lasts for, if the vaccines stop people from being infectious or how much of the population would need to be covered to provide herd immunity.

She said: 'If you really want to get to some sort of true herd immunity, you're looking at 80-90% of the population, which even with our current roll-out would take you into next fall.

'We need to make sure at that point, the people who have been vaccinated now still have immunity.'

She added: 'For me, the vaccine is definitely there, we have to continue roll-out, keep saving lives through protecting vulnerable people with that.

'But it's not a strategy in and of itself and relying on it alone is highly, highly risky, especially with all the new variants and mutations.

'We need to have a plan and the vaccine supports that plan but it's just your plan.'

In another blow to hopes of the vaccine restoring normality to British life, other experts warned social distancing measures could have to remain in place throughout the year.

Professor Peter Horby, chair of the UK government's New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group, said even after vaccinating the most vulnerable parts of the population things will not necessarily return to normal.

He told the BBC's Andrew Marr Show: 'I don't think it will return us to normal.

'There will still be a large number of people being infected, and although the absolute risks of someone under the age of 80 dying or ending up in hospital are low, with a large number of infections that still translates into a lot of people and so we're going to have to manage the virus, with social distancing measures as well as vaccination for the coming months.'

Asked about the likelihood of social distancing measures being in place next winter, he said: 'I think that's likely. I think it very much depends on how well we can scale up the vaccine programme and how quickly we can get it out to a substantial proportion of the population.'

Professor Horby also echoed Mr Han****'s comments that people would have to get a coronavirus vaccine 'every few years' if it does need to be updated against new variants, and added that the virus 'will not go away'.

He said: 'This one (virus) I think will not go away. We're going to have to live with it but that may change significantly.

You live in the UK so you surely saw these reports at the time. You knew we were warned it could be a yearly vaccine, and we were told that corona was not going to just go away. But you watched so much anti-vax propaganda that I guess you just forgot and now genuinely believe the rest of us are the dupes.

Ahhh! I have a friend from Hounslow. I’m a massive plane nerd would love to go over and watch the planes land!

I live a stones throw from the Royal Observatory.

I’m a big fan of the V&A. Massive, loads of cool stuff and it’s way quieter than the British Museum.
