Gerrard did literally carry that Liverpool side at times and was definitely one of the best midfielders in the world in his prime. Would almost always show up on the big occasion for Liverpool.
I understand why United and Chelsea fans don't like him. Paul Scholes is more my type of player but did he ever really do it in the crunch games the way Gerrard did it for Liverpool? Lampard doesn't even belong in the conversation.
Honestly, watching Lamps to where he came from in 2001 to where he ended up is incredible. Lampard is the standard all young players should be held to because the man never stopped improving. Incredible player and like Flicker said the man actually came close to winning the big one.
They all have something different in them but I would imagine statistically Lampard probably outstrips both in not only goals but possibly assists as well. I know that statistically Lampard is the greatest premiership player of all time.
And anyone who doesn't think football isn't about statistics is basically a ****. Of course it is.Last edited by Sparked_26; 07-21-2014, 04:59 PM.

but Lampard only scored tap-ins and penalties.......
Lampard score pretty much nowt in his first two full seasons at Chelsea. Then he went onto be a 20 goal a season man.
All tap ins. All penalties. All deflected efforts.

Besides in the context of the two games Chelsea had with Sunderland that they won on other days Sunderland would have gotten heavily, heavily beaten as the were in the league game at the Stadium of Light.
Chelsea have historically pulled down Man United's pants no matter how shit we were. Even when we finished 14th in the league we beat them home and away one year when they comfortable won the league.
We didn't beat Blackburn Rovers at home for a 30 year stretch at one point and they brought some really bad teams to Stamford Bridge.
Bogey teams exist.
Chelsea beat Man City home and away last season. We weren't better than them.

I won't lie, Arsenal is looking dangerous on the attack.
Cazorla, Özil, Sanchez, Giroud, Ox, Walcott. I mean come on.
But that midfield is still rather weak though. If they go 4231 with a midfield two of Ramsey and wilshere. They're getting overrun by Chelsea and City. The big hitters of England. Or teams like Bayern, Dortmund, Madrid x2 in Europe.

When we went through January without signing a player it indicated that Wenger was going big in the summer transfer window. We are on the verge of something special.
