I haven't seen Barca contained like that in a long time. It was different when Chelsea and Inter beat them, they were still able to create a ****load of chances but they were just poor in front of goal on those nights. Milan just stopped them from creating anything altogether tonight

If they execute that again they will piss the 2nd leg.

Why use 2 passes when 637 will do. They've been found out a few times now. The blueprint has been laid down.

Two good passes and you're in as well. One day someone is going to absolutely hammer them as well with about 4% possession.

Puyol defending on the halfway line is suicidal, they manage to get away with it though...sort of.
Chelsea did them last year.. barca were totally out of ideas...

The only problem if u play them like that and they score one of those chances or a bit of magic...

your ****ed and get passed to death..

      Milan will go through now
.. 2-0 no away goals vs.. is a massive result

And how exactly is that Barcelona's fault?

Because it is the only way to combat the slow-death game of football they introduced.

No one tells these teams to put 11 men behind the ball, it's their choice.

Bit of a trade-off I suppose. The thing with Barca though is that risk is taken out of their game really, they don't cross the ball very often (under Pep...never), they aren't a threat from set-pieces. They let good teams get set for any set-piece. Goal kicks are always short, throw ins usually go backwards, they hardly if ever shoot from distance. So there is a pattern there. The games look like 5-a-sides.

Whilst they are the best team in the world, their insistence on enforcing their philosophy means all decent teams with a certain amount of humility can get set against them and any goal scored will most likely have to be perfect or Messi just tears it up.

Anyone else think Barca's game just look like 5-a-sides. The emphasis on tracking runners seems to bring rewards, which is probably Di Matteo played Drogba left-back.

Either way, their games are well boring.

                    AC were excellent though.

I don't fully agree with the bolded. I remember them carving you up a few times and just bottling it in front of goal. Their problem in these sort of games is that a lot of the time, aside from Messi, the rest of their team isn't actually very clinical.

The blueprint to beat them has always been there and most teams apply it week it week out against them, it's just that normally they will still create chances and you need Barca to miss a boatload of them for you to actually get a result. Which is why it is a shock tonight when Milan have held them to about 4 shots over 90 minutes.
