It was a bit weird, their shape got narrower after Drogba and Anelka came on like a 4-3-1-2 with Anelka in that "1" position which probably isn't his best position and the likes of Benayoun could have played better there.

AVB is a 4-3-3 man I don't think he'll shy away from that but the positioning and mini-roles of the 3 strikers is his biggest problem now.

With two great strikers like Drogba and Torres, how could you not play them at the same time? I know Drogba is stubborn so he wouldn't shift to the outside but Torres is versatile enough to play the outside. That way, you have two guys who pressure the backs heavily at the same time. Thinning out the opponents defense on one side. Better yet, just go:
Anelka-R
Drogba-M
Torres-L

Try that personnel on a weaker or middle team and just see how it goes. If it goes 4-0 or something, AVB obviously found the working formula. If it tanks 0-0 or loss, then obviously never try it again.


I just don't like how Chelsea isn't maximizing their potential. Look at Man U. they have Nani, Javier, Park, Rooney, Giggs(who moves up deep during the offensive drive) that's maximizing your potential.
