What people fail to realize, is that the best way to beat Barca, is to let them have the ball, keep your shape, press them, get your full backs to tuck in to close the gap down the middle so they cant play through you, then counter attack them when they over-commit too many players with their attack minded approach. Did Inter Milan get outplayed when they beat them? the little scoreboard is all that matters.

Barca almost bore you to sleep by knocking 5 yard balls to each other, beit across the back like, or the midfield, but what it does, is it almost lulls you to sleep, then when they have lulled you to sleep, and your ball watching, the're able to find the runners who are running off you because you've been caught ball watching.

Look at what Wes Brown has won in his career. That's all I have to say.
Difference is Gattuso has always been a key player, Brown has always ben a squad player.

Gattuso ran alot in is prime, he has lost his legs now. Look at Fletcher, look at Essien, these players are good because they run a lot, if they lost their legs they wouldnt be top players any more.

Gattuso was a beast at tackling and winning the ball back, not many could get past him.

He was widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. He was on par with Makelele, Davids etc.

(yeah i know i said he wasnt a DM, but he was always a central midfielder who was defensive)

I have always looked to Gattuso as the Italian Robbie Savage...

Regarded as one of the best DM's in the world? By who exactly? Certainly no-one I've ever spoke to about him.

De Jong currently does a better job than Gattuso ever did in his role.

**** on. He's an upgrade to Robbie Savage.

The modern day Gattuso is Fletcher

Gattuso is nothing like Makelele. Makelele is nothing like Davids either.

In loose terms Gattuso and Davids were essentially DMF's, but there is a massive difference between what they did, to what Makelele did. Davids was a high energy DMF, as was Gattuso. Makelele was strictly a sitting DMF

Also, Gattuso has never been in that class, just that he played in a talented side that won stuff, he had good players around him, however he wasn't that great DMF, good, but not great.

Gattuso couldn't hold a candle to Vieira, Keane.

Just seen the game on video. I thought we defended and pressed pretty well last night.

With Sagna back for the next leg we should be better, but Barca being Barca will always create chances.
