If you was to build a team around Scholes 2000/2004 was the time to do it.
2004 was when he was pushed out onto the wing.. 2000 was keegan and Ince and Wise were playing werent they? Phil Neville screwed us over that year.

I would argue IF he played bad it was due to miss use. Anyway it was quite clear you couldnt play Lampard and Gerrard both together.. its kind of a shame hargreaves never recovered from injuries.. Hargreaves/scholes would have been fantastic imo

I preferred the early version of Scholes when he played further forward. scored more and was involved in attacks more imo. But people seem to go on about his deeper role these days though so i think i'm in a minority. Scholes on the wing though man lol makes you cringe.

I always wondered what the top nations would have done with Lampard and Gerrard, Germany or France wouldn't have had problems making them click i don't think. Part of the reason i actually wanted Gerrard to sign for Chelsea that time before he bottled it.

Yeah Mourhino obviously thought he could get the two working together

Gerrard went onto slip and bottle the title so i guess he probably regrets not leaving Liverpool

juve sign dani alves from barca, i prefer more younger talents but even now there are still no better fullback than alves and it's FREE!! again very good job by beppe marotta.

Lampard and Gerrard never worked because Gerrard is a narcissist.

England love a failing talisman and Stevie Meeeeeeeeeeeeee was rife for the role. Lampard was clever and functional would have been more successful in a more functional midfied. It would been better for England if Gerrard wasn't English, imo.

Gerrard should have been the one to curb his instincts he rarely would because he's an arsehole.

He was till Klopp decided against signing him in favour of a younger, potentially better version of Gundogan in Young Mahmoud Dahoud.

Dahoud is the future there can be no doubt about that and it seems he is the next in line to be chosen by Klopp for future stardom, just like he did with a young 20 year old Gundogan.

On a serious note doe i remember a time when we came very close to signing Alves.....we were strongly linked with him the season before Barca bought him. Iirc in the end we didn't end up signing him because we would only go up to 14-16m and they wanted 18m or something like that.

Imagine he joined us and Barca went on to sign some other RB....he'd have missed out on about a thousand trophies and a bond on(seriously how many assists did he provide for Messi!?) and off the pitch with the greatest player of all time.

Football is a funny old game at times.

The main thing i remember Gerrard doing for England is passing the ball to Henry (i think) in the last mins of the euros. He never was a team player imo...

People say Lampard and Gerrard scored more etc then scholes.. which is true.. But i never saw them dictate the tempo of the game like scholes could.. also he scored a worldie in the CL semis vs barca..

Stevie G is the type that you would want to smack in school for constantly hogging the ball.. and for trying to do that killer ball/shot every time.

Lampard would go missing a bit though.. then he would turn up 5 mins from time and deflect the ball in of his ass..

Just rewatched the highlights of CL final between Chelsea/united.. your goal was jammy as **** as usual.. never seen a team get so lucky with deflections as Chelsea

Roy, who are the biggest 3 signings Klopp is making this summer? Got any info from inside the club on pretty much done deals?
