Simple concept you seem to be struggling with here. Mao and Stalin did not kill because they were Atheist, they just happened to be Atheists. Being an Atheist does not give anyone any intrinsic ideology, unlike the majority of organised religions. It would be like me saying a murderer who happened to be Christian, did it because he is a Christian - which would be absurd.

The purpose of this thread is to illustrate the prejudice that atheists face purely as a consequence of their lack of belief in a deity. If this individual had said "If he says he's a ****** then pack up and go home because ******s mistreat women" or "If he says he's a *** pack up and go home because ***s are mean with their money" then there would rightly be an outcry. But it's alright to make offensive and unsubstantiated statements such as "atheists have no moral barometer" apparently. This is why atheists and humanists are starting to get organised. Even though our views are disparate we are attempting to unite somewhat because the very fact that we never bothered before has put us at a huge disadvantage and opened us up to the type of public condemnation and discrimination that the various religions frankly wouldn't stand for.
