Blacks have a right to view him as a black man because of the injustices that have gone on with the backward thinking of the "one drop rule".
I wasn't using it as an guide to what should be but more so, what has been accepted and precieved for such a long time in the US. So you can understand when black people look at Barack ***** as more than just a candidate for president, he's a candidate that looks and represents them.
Like I said, people are quick to claim black people when they are mixed race and the do good but the second they are doing something wrong, they are 100% black....I just don't buy that. Barck is black, period end of story.

Race is completely superficial. It really is. You think if the cops pull over a black guy on a Saturday night they would simply let him go once he told them he was half white?
You could have one drop of black heritage but you're not black unless you look like it. Same with white people.

You guys are missing the point and this is why this topic never gets solved.
I agree 100% that race shouldn't be an issue, that we should all live in harmony, ebony and ivory.....oh wait that's a song.
It's a nice fantasy but until everyone feels that way and gets treated that way, race will always be and issue because of the injustices that continue to go on everyday.
The fact is, there are two different Americas. One that has streets paved in gold where hard work and education gets you everything and another, another America where people are bron into mothers that are crack whores and fathers who are in prison.
Born into a cycle that perpetuates it'self over and over again and happens to people below the poverty line, which happen to be people of color.
Now I'm not making excuses and think everyone at one point in time has to responsible for themselves but it's pretty ****ty for one group of people that have never lived this type of life to just sit back and say "tough ****, suck it up". It's very easy to do that.
Like I said ***** represents something to black people that most of US (me included) don't understand. He is a hope for an entire race of people that have it in their minds that a black man can never be president because whites will never ever accept them as equals no matter what people may say or write.
Sometimes you have to step back and look at the reality of things no matter how ****ed up they may be or how wrong they may be. Because the first step to fixing **** is admiting it's ****ed up to begin with.
