The garrison at Minas Morgul has 250,000 orcs. About a quarter of that number are Uruk-Hai. The garrison at Minas Morgul are supported by at least 50 thousand cavalry of all classes including Harad cavalry and warg battalions.

Thay also have a compliment of about 20-30 oliphaunts and about a few dozen trolls.

And let's not forget about the Nazgul and the LOTN which is invulnerable from all blows coming from a human.

I think 1000 of America's best soldiers won't last an hour against such odds.

And we aren't even talking about the garrison at Barad dur.

So you think an m-16 could kill a Nazgul?

160 rangers survived yes. Commendable during the Somali battle. SURVIVED. It's a lot different from winning.

But 1000 marines against a horde won't be enough. Say 1000 marines with enough ammo are holed up in a hill with all the ammo their guns need. Nazguls screeching at their ears will probably drive some of them mad. And orcs aren't noob somalis who fire while they duck. Orcs are maniacal creatures who will charge face first.

And also, what about the Nazguls.

Also we are not talking of guns here but a medieval scenario.
