When I was a boy, I used to play apple tag with my cousins.
We'd get a big bag of apples..........put it about 100 feet from us and say "go" and run for the bag. First to touch the bag gets it and there's a pause. Then the loser had to back up fifteen feet, then we'd say "go" again. The person with the bag started chucking them at the other person.........and the best thing to do.......was run after the apples that missed, pick one up and fire it back....or just take the beating and wait for all the apples to deplete from the bag.
Regardless I got really ****ing good at strategy, in that I could get people away from apples by threatening them with throws.....collecting them in my baggy pants and carrying more ammo.
I clearly remember taking beatings from apples.
