Give me a god damn side scroller

I love 2D games, 3D games are long & boring, with complicated controls. Not a big fan of 3D games, I could careless about 3D graphics.

The only 3D game I have enjoyed was a Mario Kart Double Dash.

If you have (or can afford) a Nintendo DS, go out and grab New Super Mario Bros., which is a brand new Mario side scroller, just out this past week.

I hate that this game won't be available on Gamecube (which I'm just now getting this week for my kids)...

Add Ninja Gaiden I and II to the list of all-time great side scrollers (as well as some of the best video game music ever)...

Best 4 minute medley ever.

Lets not forget about the classics: Metroid, castlevania, golgo 13, the mafat conspiracy, paper boy, etc.

Also, I know it doesn't count as a side scroller but I just want to give props to shadowgate. Hardest game ever. if you have beaten that without using a strategy guide, I salute you.
