Give me a god damn side scroller

The best games with the most replayability have been side scrollers. the first Mario, the (severely under rated) second zelda (which isn't as good, but still a great game), and for the next gen consoles of the past the oddworld series. Abes oddysee was a greatgame, and now they have to muck it up with these 3d versions of oddworld.

There have been incredible platformers that have been all time greats, like Mario 64 and the next gen Zeldas, but give me a new old school side scroller like viewtiful joe. We need more games like that. Mega Man 3d? that game ****** for the first ps. That was another classic side scroller in its hayday.

I know its wishful thinking and it is unlikely to happen but one every now and then would be appreciated. Who is with me here?

If you're into the side-scroller space shooters then check out Ikaruga for the Game Cube. It's tough but I guess that's all part of the old school charm.

did you just thaw from a block of ice. 90% of sidescrollers ****** 12 years ago. Mix in some Viewtifull Joe and STU oldschoolfool. Zelds 2 was the worse Zelda ever.

What Konami needs to do is this!

Remake Castlevania Symphony of the Night! On a DVD for the PS2. They should make it very long with mad secrets and enemys. Some new costumes and characters! Why haven't they done this? Castlevania SOTN was the best side scroller!

First off, the best games ever were side scrollers. Don't even get me started on ninja gaiden. Granted, it was a great xbox game, but the original was calssic.

Second, you only believe the second zelda ****** because you were brainwashed by everyone else to say that it ******. it was a great game. The hammer? come on.

see, this guy gets what I'm saying. Theres another perfect example. SOTN was perfect for the PS, then castlevania 3d came out and it puked. it puked bigtime. K to undefeated if I can.

tons of great games were side-scrollers. contra, x-men (the arcade game that had like 6 players), metal slug series, etc...

rush'n attack ****** though. it was so ****ing bad it was great actually. i used to call that game rush-n-attack-russians.

You left off my faves. Ever play Kid Icarus or Trojan... or even Sonic? Out of the 1,000 sidescrollers from the 80s and early 90s I liked about 15. My point is that it was a weak genre so its not like 3D killed the platformer. Most ****** then and most suck now. Maybe I have tough standards. Castlevania Symphony of the Night was kindof lame to me too. The gameplay was no better then thje first two Castlevania games that came out 8 years before, it just let you save and collect stuff. Woppeee!!.

Well, then we have to agree to disagree... because SOTN was one of my favorites.

                    Funny story about kid icarus:

When I was young my parents let me go up toys r us and get a nintendo game for my birthday. right before we left the house both of my older brothers cornered me and said "if you don't get double dragon we will beat your ass down" So I went up and was looking at games, and kid icarus was on display on one of those game stations where it let you play for 2 minutes before resetting. So I dug that and went ahead and got it. When I got home, I did indeed get my ass beat, but all was forgiven after a few weeks when both of my brothers actually played the game and loved it.

Kid Icarus is one of my favs.
