You have NO idea how popular they are. Last year at EVO (the world's largest fighting game tournament held in Las Vegas every year) had HUNDREDS of competitors turn out for that game alone.

Street Fighter 4 probably was one of those things that became more popular than the producers could've predicted. They probably thought they'd be placing the franchise on iron-lung and giving it some artificial life, but man...the series was just revitalized completely. Never mind Third Strike, that was only embraced by a select group and diehards, but SF4 pretty much made Street Fighter mainstream again in the video game market.

They're still pretty big but not as much as before.

Most kids find fighting games to hard and rather stick to easy ass Call of Duty
