Can training gloves be used for both Sparring AND Bag Work?

Is it recommended to use the same pair of gloves for bag work and sparring? I have heard that it was not, but with the high level gloves like IMF-tech that I have I am wondering if it would be ok.

I've heard the same thing: that you can get away with using 1 pair of gloves if you have IMF or Ringside Ultimate Classic. Personally, I wouldn't do that. It's like wearing a lighter sparring glove than everyone else: even if it won't cause you to hurt your partners, they may still take it personally.

By the way, what gym in Baltimore are you from? I just moved here to Texas from Glen Burnie in March. Used to be a member of BXF & Owings Mills Boxing clubs. Worked out at Jake Smith's Baltimore Boxing for a lil while too.

I seen Team Let's Go Home at amateur events, but didn't know their trainers. Seem like a damn good gym tho.

No, you can't use the same gloves to spar that you hit the bag with. If you want to get used to your sparring gloves and get a better feel for them, just do you your shadowboxing while wearing them.

At my gym, we use the cheap slip on ones with no way of tieing it at your wrist on the heavy bag and for sparring, another one which I don't know the name, but they're very good.
