    Best proven supplements to add to shakes/smoothie

    Some people swear by things like Hemp seed, Chia seeds, Matcha green tea powder, Flax seed, and many other different type of supplements.

    I just want to get down to the good stuff. The tried and true proven stuff. Any suggestions? Keep in mind I also don't want to smoothie to taste like shit.

    Just make a whole food smoothie with a Vitamix blender and you are good to go.

    I usually put plain greek yogurt with some berries, or fruits, and drink that. you can look for fruit smoothie recipes online easy.

    If you trying to build muscle add some Plain whey.

    I stopped taking supplements though, they are useless, just spend more money on real food go to a good cheap grocery chain like ALDI and you can cop some deals and a lot of their stuff is organic or USDA certified.

    I forgot what muscle supp I used but it bloated my face up bad, also eliminate sugar, and high sodium, if you workout you can have a bit sugar and sodium but if you are a sedentary person you dont need much, just make your sugar come from fruits which has natural fructose and health benefits from the vitamins and minerals.

      The best super food is pure cacao powder. I usually throw that in mine as well.

        Funny you mention... I just moved away form protein w/ artificial flavors so I had to start getting my own flavors. The true cacao as you mention (not the cooked coco as most are thinking) is really a fantastic additive. Not only flavors, but gives some nice anti oxidants and a slew of other potential benefits.

        Though I've tried a lot of different supps, I generally don't dump a lot of stuff in my shakes anymore aside from a banana and a flavor (be it cacao, powdered peanut butter, etc). I used to be big on green powder, flax, etc, but found that eating good is just a better way. For me at least.

        Regarding Chia, my wife makes a chocolate pudding with chia seed and stevia that is great. Replaces sugary desserts and gives extra protein/fiber, which essentially all of us need more of.

          Seems to have a lot of good stuff including magnesium which I've begun taking lately. How much of it do you use in a serving? Is it cost efficient?

            I will look into pure cacao powder, thanks.

            I wonder if it's counterproductive to make a smoothie with a little bit of all of the most popular super foods. Just throw in a shit load of fruit and some stevia powder to make it taste good.

              I use 30 grams of it which gives me about half my days worth of magnesium and a third of my fibre intake. I pay $20 bucks at Winners for a 454 gram bag of Navitas organic cacao powder. So, I only get 15 uses per bag which I use in half a month. That doesn't sound great but a little over a dollar per serving is pretty decent. You can also stretch that bag out for a month. I just use the serving size that I do because I like to make sure I get a ton of nutrients in the morning, so even if I stray and don't eat the best later at least I know I had half a bag of spinach and all that cacao powder in the morning.

                  I'm hearing good things about Gelatin. Particularly this one:

                  Might give it a try.

                    I don't do gelatin much but I do use collagen and it helps joints, skin, etc. My new fave is this, magic on the joints;
