scientists tend to work for science based companies who also tend to fund research.

And you don't see a potential problem with that? Company profits, and by extension the funding and livelihood of the scientists, depend on studies coming out a certain way in order to pass government regulations.

Science can be corrupted by money and greed just like anything else. You seem like a reasonable guy, do you at least acknowledge the possibility that this could happen?
