    Sparring with a overbite Jaw

    Hello there,
I have a moved disc in my jaw, my jaw has a overbite which happened a year ago or so, it was not boxing related it was due to clenching and grinding my teeth, I am currently going through treatment, I wear a retainer until my jaw gets back to normal, I was sparring today, I just came back,my jaw is really painful, I was thinking of telling my trainer to not do sparing to the face and just do body sparring until my jaw is healed.
What do you guys think, I came back and was about to eat some food when my jaw really hurt,it was hard to eat my food.

Tell him, why take the chance of permanent damage!

There's no glory in fking up the rest of your life for a few minutes of machismo in the gym. Tell him what's going on and if you want to spar, get a mouthpiece FITTED and wear full-guard headgear.

I have a mouthguard, I think due to my overbite, the mouthpiece is not really helping.

If you have developed an overbite that means the ligaments in you jaw are very stretched and loose. You have a very weak chin and are very vulnerable to injury so I'd be really careful not to risk anything.
