    Sorry ive mucked the title its meant to read 'Advice to beginner on heavy bag'

    Hey guys, ive been boxing a month or so with a club, fitness is coming together along with movement, however im 20 and for 3 years ive been bodybuilding, I was 72kg at 16 yrs and I am now 91kg around 13% BF and being killed in sparring by lads at 70kg Lol. Im not getting much 1on1 help atm as im a newbie and I guess I could quit at a moments notice, I box 4x a week, but on the off days I was wondering if there was any routines to use on the heavy bag that could help me as my left leading hand is weak in comparison to my right.

    i suggest you shadow box everyday.
    im guessing your mechanics aren't that great. so keep shadow boxing til u can throw punches in ur sleep

      Im limbering up every week more and more. One lad who has been boxing for 8 years and said im very tense and robotic lol, so youre right, im also not a natural heavyweight

      id say its all my punches. The jab is getting quicker but not much impact.

        It's pretty normal to be too tense when you start. Remember that the heavybag is not a simulation of fighting, it's a conditioning tool. So treat it as such. You need to breathe and frankly, you'll get a lot more out of shadow boxing in the mirror than blasting away at the heavy bag.

        Power punching isn't about muscular strength. It's about proper mechanics.

        Learn to punch correctly from the balls of the feet, turning the hips over, through the shoulders and treat the arms almost like their dead, or links in a whip. The more loose you are upstairs (relaxed), the better you'll do. This can seem counter intuitive at first, because if you are struggling you probably want to try harder, but it isn't about throwing "harder" it's about throwing better.

        Also, I'd recommend you focus your attentions more on cardio. Strength exercises are not totally out, but they are way down on the list of priorities when learning to box. Get your conditioning right, learn the proper basics then focus on muscular endurance and core/leg exercises. Good luck and happy training!
