First time boxing - constant shoots of pain in knuckles/wrist/etc

    Takes a few days - a week off and see how your hands feel then. If you don't protect your hands it's easy to get strains and small injuries but they can heal fairly quickly if you allow them to and don't damage them further. Also, perhaps get some padded slip-on hand wraps, they are a lot quicker to put on and provide robust support on your knuckles/top of the hand/and wrist.

    Other than that...yeah - protect your hands if you are serious about boxing...you will need them!!

    Edit - by the way, I'm personally having some discomfort rather when I am wearing my gloves and punching the heavy bag for a long period because of the strain of my fingers being curled up for so long. Basically, rest...overwork your hands and you'll end up with serious damage that you won't be able to fix.
