will painkillers get rid of muscle soreness?

I did a big chest day yesterday after not lifting for about 8 months and my chest is ****ing killing me

normally i'd leave it but i'm going bowling with a girl tomorrow and as of right now i'm probably not going to be able to swing fully

if im still ****ed tomorrow will a bunch of ibuprofen numb the pain for an hour or so?

It just means you did a good job, I would suggest sucking it up for 4-5 days rather than take drugs.

i'm fully keen to gut it out, i usually do but i'm serious man like i can only rotate my arm about 40 degrees, i just need something so i can bowl without looking like an 80 year old man. If not painkillers any other tips?

Sure - If you want to develop a dependency and spiral into a drug addiction. Muscle soreness is usually the sign of an improper diet. Make sure you're providing your body with the necessary amount of nutrition to fully recover from a workout.

Its just DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), suck it up.

Stay hydrated, eat & get plenty of rest.

                This

Also, take protein and stretch often. The protein will help the muscle repair quicker and the stretching will reduce the soreness.

it will be better by the time you get to the bowling alley. besides, all that adrenaline rushing though your body if she gives you action will mask the pain.
